What is Cyberbullying?
Cyberbullying is bullying (blustering, browbeating person especially: one who is habitually cruel, insulting, or threatening to others who are weaker, smaller, or in some way vulnerable tormented by the neighborhood) with the use of digital devices like cell phones, computers, and tablets.
It can take place on social media, messaging platforms, gaming platforms, and mobile phones. It is repeated behavior, aimed at scaring, angering, or shaming those who are targeted.
What is Cyberbullying involved in?
Cyberbullying includes sending, posting, or sharing negative, harmful, false, or mean content about someone else. It can include sharing personal or private information about someone else causing embarrassment or humiliation. Some cyberbullying crosses the line into unlawful or criminal behavior.
The most common places where cyberbullying occurs are:
- Social Media, such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and Tik Tok
- Text messaging and messaging apps on mobile or tablet devices
- Instant messaging, direct messaging, and online chatting over the internet
- Online forums, chat rooms, and message boards, such as Reddit
- Online gaming communities
What are the effects of cyberbullying?
Being bullied online can feel as if you’re being attacked everywhere, even inside your own home.
- Mentally: One can feel upset, embarrassed, stupid, even angry
- Emotionally: One can feel ashamed or losing interest in the things you love
- Physically: tired (loss of sleep), or experiencing symptoms like stomach aches and headaches
Things to do if you or your friend is bullied
Cyberbullying Prevention:
Inform it to family and close friend who can help you:
Don’t worry if think your parents will blame you for being too active on social media, but know that they will understand the graveness of the situation if you give them a chance. Tell them the situation from which you are going through.
Save records of that evidence:
This is the most important step whether you are complaining or not you must save all those messages, images, screenshots, audio or anything. This comes in handy when you have to officially report cyberbullying.

If you think that the situation has gone too far then definitely you have to file an official Complaint against that person Here National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal. While complaining the above records will support your case. You can also call on their helpline no 155260 which is active from 9 am to 6 p.m.

- Do not respond or retaliate
- Report as Abuse
- Block the person
- Warn the person of legal action
- Take Screenshots of the messages before deleting
- Delete the posts
- Change your passwords
- Tell your parents
- Report to Anti Bullying Organizations
- Get going with your work
- Get counseled
