Starlink Internet Speed Will Up To 300Mbps | Will it be available in India?
SpaceX chief Elon Musk said his telecom venture Starlink satellite broadband service is testing system upgrades, which may result in “much higher download speeds”.
Musk had earlier confirmed a speed boost from 150Mbps to 300Mbps “later this year” while responding to a Twitter user who received their Starlink broadband kit and shared a screenshot of the service offering them broadband speeds of 130Mbps at their location.
He further said that because of the boost latency would be reduced to around 20ms, enhancing the users’ web browsing experience. In response to another Twitter user, Musk said that Starlink would cover most of “Earth by end of the year, all by next year.”
What is Starlink?
Starlink is a network of satellites that provide the internet. It’s being built by SpaceX, Elon Musk’s aerospace company.
The satellite network operates at 550km above the Earth’s surface in low Earth orbit, unlike conventional internet satellites that are positioned much higher, at over 35,000km.
Will Starlink be available in India?
The owner of Tesla seems to be planning to revolutionize the Indian telecom market through Starlink, a unique project of his private space company SpaceX. A media report has claimed that SpaceX can introduce satellite-based Internet service in the rapidly growing Indian telecom industry. In the Starlink project, the company can provide internet services to any corner of the world through satellite.
How much will Starlink Internet cost?
Consumers who are interested in signing up can pre-order on Starlink’s website. Orders are delivered on a first-come, first-serve basis, and limited to a select number of users per coverage area. The hardware required to use Starlink will cost $499, while internet service costs $99 a month.
