WhatsApp, one of the most widely used instant messaging apps, rolled out the “Delete for everyone” feature recently. But do deleted messages really disappear from the phone? A new report claims that WhatsApp messages that are deleted are actually still on the device and can be easily accessed.

Messages can be deleted in individual chats as well as group chat and the feature is available on Android, iOS, and Windows platforms. The WhatsApp unsent messages feature comes with caveats like recipients get to know that you have deleted a message as “This message was deleted” is displayed instead of the deleted message.

Does the message really get deleted?

No, the deleted messages are present in the notification log of the device.  It adds that the recipient can easily access the deleted messages regardless of whether it has been deleted from the sender’s end. 

How to read deleted WhatsApp messages

1. Read deleted messages using WhatsApp Chat Backup

If you have deleted a chat accidentally that you want to recover, you can do so with the help of WhatsApp Chat backup which occurs every night at 2 am by default. You can change the frequency of backup to daily, weekly, or monthly. However, choosing daily as the preferred backup frequency is recommended as you can restore chats before the next backup occurs at 2 am.

To restore deleted WhatsApp chats, pursue the following steps:
  • Uninstall WhatsApp and install it again from Google Play Store if you are using an Android device.
  • Agree to Terms and Conditions and enter your mobile number along with the country code in the next step.
  • You will be presented with an option to restore chats from a backup. Click on the restore option and your WhatsApp chats will be restored.

2. How to read deleted WhatsApp messages – Using Third-Party Apps

You will first need to download the WhatsRemoved+ application from the Google Play store. Before downloading the app ensure to connect the phone to a WiFi network first. The app size measures 4.90MB.

What’s Removed+ will then ask you whether it should save files or not. Click the option that you prefer. It will then take you to a page that will show all deleted WhatsApp messages. Just click on the WhatsApp option next to the Detected option on top of the screen.

After enabling these settings you will be able to read all deleted WhatsApp messages. The deleted messages will appear under the WhatsApp option on the WhatsRemoved+ app.

3. How to read deleted WhatsApp messages – Using GBWhatsApp

As this is the moded version of Orignal WhatsApp that’s it is not recommended to use by Google. Besides user can uses on their own risk

  • You just need download and Install GBWhatsApp from any browser as you will not get it from
  • Playstore
  • Go to GBWhatsApp setting
  • Privacy and Security
  • In Chats enable Anti-Delete Messages
